One strategy I have used to prevent and intervene in issues affecting student wellness and achievement is implementing a comprehensive peer support program. In this program, I trained a group of student volunteers to serve as peer mentors and provide support to their fellow classmates. These mentors were selected based on their leadership skills and empathy. They underwent training on active listening, conflict resolution, and identifying signs of distress. Through regular meetings and activities, they created a supportive and inclusive environment for all students. They also organized workshops on mental health, stress management, and study skills to address common challenges faced by students. This strategy not only increased student wellness and achievement but also fostered a sense of belonging and connectedness among the students.
